Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What does it mean to double click? What is a mouse? Can you imagine being 10 years old and not knowing how to use a computer? Many of my refugee students have never used a computer before.

My students are 86% free or reduced lunch and come from many different countries.

I have students that are homeless, and those that are refugees. While they have lots of struggles, they are so excited to learn how to use computers and publish their stories on-line. Although we only have one computer, we have posted over 150 stories to our classroom blog.

My Project

With another computer in the classroom, twice the number of students could use the computer! More students would be able to post their stories to the blog. More students could learn how to type and have computer literacy skills. The blog is powerful for the students because they know their stories are read by real people outside of the classroom.

My students need to be computer literate.

Many did not know what it meant to "double click" on the first day of school. Help my students gain the skills they need to be successful in the 21st century.
