Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Working in a low income, high poverty community, Title 1 school, I am aware my students need the proper technology and supplies to succeed. My students work to the best of their ability, and it's amazing to see how much they have accomplished so far. My students live in what was the epicenter of the coronavirus in NYC. They live in Corona, Queens, where the majority of families are Hispanic. They have had an extremely hard year and returning to school may seem a little scary for them. To ease their fears, classrooms have to meet CDC guidelines to ensure that staff and students are safe. Because my students struggle financially, some families with two, three or more children are sharing one device, one cellphone, one notebook, and one crayon box. That is no way for students to learn. My students deserve the absolute best, no matter the barrier they face.

In my classroom, I strive to meet each child's unique individual needs.

My Project

I am requesting folders, tote bags, pencils, hand sanitizer, masks, pencils pouches, floor decals and more. These materials will help support the financial burden these families face. The materials listed: masks, gloves, sanitizer, pencils, will help support our new blended learning model.

Due to the CDC guidelines, students can't share any materials or supplies.

The individual book bags and individual pencil cases should help assist with this issue. The white board will be a huge asset if we should go fully remote. Because most of my students are ELLs and SWD, they will benefit from the pictures of both the masks and social distancing protocols.

My students live in what was the epicenter of COVID-19 in NYC. They have suffered so much loss both financially and personally. Let's make this transition back to the classroom the best it can be!
