Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school, which means the majority of my students are on free lunch due to family low income. They come from different background and cultures. Many of them speak only Spanish and are quickly learning English.

I have 48 students in my two Science classes.

Despite the many challenges they face in and out of school, they come to class eager to explore the science on everything. Unfortunately, I can only provide them with limited hands on opportunities because of a lack of supplies.

My Project

My students will have the rare opportunity of working independently on designing a rocket on their own. They will also have a blast as they see how a small amount of water and some air can power a rocket to travel high in the air. While studying air pressure, air resistance, and thrust, and later, measuring distance, my students will be giving an opportunity to explore technology and engineering. Besides learning science, one of the greatest impact this activity will have on each student is to help them develop the love for science our today's society needs to successfully compete against other countries.
