My Students

I work with students and families that come from under served communities that are furthest from educational justice and provide them with social and emotional support throughout the day. I also work with families and community members in providing after school enrichment that is full of physical fitness and STEM activities that keeps both their minds and bodies healthy. Additionally, I’m the leader and founder of the school’s Black Family Council.

My goal is to always serve my students and their families to the best of my abilities, and to develop and support positive behavior in all of our students.

I teach and interact with over 400 kindergarten through 5th grade students and every day is a new and different experience. We are a school with students who come from a variety of social and economic challenges.

We have implemented a School-Wide Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) plan over the last 4 years, "Check-In/Check-Out" (CICO). Through CICO we work to encourage positive behaviors in our students and develop the social skills that will help them achieve their future goals. Our students’ confidence thrives when their social skills are developed in a positive way.

My students are awesome!

My Project

Most of the time, our young Black scholars do not have the opportunity to read about characters that look just like them. I hope to change that.

Students need books with stories and illustrations of people they can connect with, embrace, and comprehend their own emotions with.

I am updating my library space with books that are written by African American authors and books that have characters who are of color. Please help me reach my goal of giving books about African Americans to my students in honor of Black History Month. Thank you for your time and consideration.
