My Project

The specific items that I am requesting will make a difference because it will give students an opportunity to see themselves represented in texts they have access to. Many of my students are refugees and asylum seekers and some have never been in a formal education setting. This means they have never studied any language and being able to give them texts in their mother tongue would foster the love for reading. The other half of my students are from underserved urban communities in my city. These students also require texts they can see themselves in so that they feel motivated to read.

My goal is to implement weekly Drop Everything And Read days where students have the choice to read whatever text they would like in in order to foster the love of reading.

One students have the desire to read language acquisition becomes a little less difficult for my middle schoolers. I want to build up my library and give students what they need!
