My Students

My students are from a low income community in rural Oregon. In our community,​ there are not many opportunities for local employment. The goal of improving our program is to provide equipment and experience that will allow our students to graduate from our program with marketable industry skills.

Many of our students will be on an alternative track from college and are seeking options like trade schools, apprenticeships, and vocational training.

Due to my extensive experience in CNC manufacturing, and nursery work I am uniquely blessed to provide guidance and training for these students.

My Project

We have made incredible strides in building up our shop space. This project is the next tool that we would like to add to our shop. It will complement other tools that we have recently received through DonorsChoose.org.

Woodworking is new to most of our students and this tool will help us give them an opportunity to build dining tables, coffee tables, chairs and other fine furniture out of solid wood.

Over the past few months, they have been expanding their wood working skills and are eager to learn more. The first project we have decided to work on with this tool is to build two matching rocking chairs for our library space. The rocking chair project has been specifically designed to use all of the tools we have received through DonorsChoose.org and we are excited to be able to complete it.
