Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a welcoming and loving community, located in the heart of Washington Heights, Manhattan. The majority of our student's have grown up and lived in this neighborhood for their entire lives. We thrive on the ideals that everyone can make a difference in their lives by making their voices heard. This community school brings together a diverse group of students from Hispanic backgrounds.

Due to the fact that our student body comes from middle class working families or immigrant families with limited English language skills, our students do not get to to experience all that New York City, and beyond has to offer.

Enrichment and knowledge at a young age is key to a child's development in becoming a well-rounded and culturally conscious person. Our student's care about their neighborhood, city, and the world they live in, and want to make a difference in any way they can.

My Project

The 5th grade has been studying environmental preservation and habitats in the classroom. This learning experience would benefit our student body by allowing them to experience the natural world and the great outdoors in a realistic and engaging atmosphere.

Bill Robinson is a wildlife specialist who brings a variety of reptiles and birds of prey to show to the students.

During his demonstration, he educations the students on the important's of these animals and how they are vital not only to the food chains in the area, but to the broader world.

Bill's knowledge and humor excite the student's interests.
