My students and I love to learn and we use every moment during our day to explore, question, and create. We are scholars, working to imagine new possibilities for our community, city, state, country, and world.

At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of them are students of color.
The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. My students and I work to dream up creative solutions for a better world. Together, my students and I are working hard to ensure that they are all confident and capable of meeting their full potential.
My Project
We read every day. Staying excited about reading takes books! Our classroom has many Native students that are excited to see themselves in books and share their stories with others. As we all study and write our own stories, we have found a deep passion for studying the stories written by other folx. These books will be a series of new stories to add to our classroom collection.

Birchbark Books is not owned by a corporation; they are not part of a chain. They are that increasingly rare thing—a tiny independent bookstore. As we receive these books, we will talk about the importance of supporting our local book vendors, in addition to the importance of reading.
