My Project

We want to give our students more access to books that portray characters that either look like them or present a new perspective. We are holding a schoolwide Battle of the Books and want enough copies for as many of our students to participate. The more engaging books there are for students in the classroom and school library the higher chance they have of reading more and liking it.

We are hoping to have a handful of the books for each teacher to have in their classroom.

This gives students access and the opportunity to read the same book as a friend. When they can talk about their books it also gives them more incentive to read them.

Our students are special because they were inherently born that way. They may not have always had access to books or they did - we reach a diverse group of students. They all deserve the chance to learn to love reading.
