Every year, our first graders end the school year with a magical hands-on science project: raising butterflies! From the moment the tiny caterpillars arrive in our classroom, students become curious scientists—observing, caring for, and learning about the life cycle of butterflies.
They watch with wonder as the caterpillars grow, transform in their chrysalises, and finally emerge as beautiful butterflies.
The joy and pride they feel when releasing them into nature is unforgettable. This experience not only teaches science, but also responsibility, empathy, and a sense of wonder about the natural world.
