Hello! Thank you for your time. My students are bright, kind, generous students who come from low-income, hardworking immigrant families of color. They come to me from their jobs they worked all night, from their families where they take care of all their younger siblings, from their home to the safety and security of my classroom.
My students enter my classroom each day hungry in all senses of the word - supplies on this list will help me to fuel all of their hunger, both literally and figuratively.
Encouraging and supporting our future generations is critical and you are crucial in that process.
It has been proven time and time again that students who can be hands on with a challenging material like Science and make it their own - will retain and understand it at a deeper level. While I can provide that during my lessons and labs - I can't begin to make a difference if they are distracted by their hunger. These snacks will help fill their hungry bellies so that they can put all their energy and efforts to their classwork.
I want to be able to provide them with the nutrition they need to be successful students while in my classroom, where they feel most comfortable. These items will feed the students I serve allowing them to be more engaged and successful learners.
