Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

High-need students require help getting essential school supplies in order to assist their learning.

Many of my students do not have school supplies, so I want us to provide materials for them and show them how invested everyone is in their education, learning, and future.

In order for my students to stay organized, they need binders in which they will do all of their U.S. History work. Except for before exams, the binders will stay in class, which ensures that students leave in June with all of their work ordered and in one place. Their body of work will be a reminder of all they have accomplished and this will further motivate them. The binders are also a necessary step in my students' path towards college. Vocabulary, critical reading, primary source work, and many other skills necessary for college, will be incorporated and organized by the binders. Since the students leave the school year with all their work in one place, the binder can be used as a resource in college. For instance, students can revisit techniques that we used to analyze documents or they can look at a primary speech that we analyzed together.

By taking part in this project, you will demonstrate that people are invested in their future, even strangers. You will show my students that education, organization, portfolio work, and commitment are all valued by us all.
