Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the pleasure of having 24 bilingual students in my classroom. Many of them new to the country. All of them are at different stages of language progression, with the bulk of them at the beginning and emerging stages. All of my students read below grade level in both their home and English language. A hundred percent of my students come from low income or no income.

All my students are learning remotely with limited supplies.

Many have few or no books at home. Every single student would benefit from having books read aloud to them. It would be great to have additional books to read to my students. No educator knew COVID 19 would keep us home for months, and so many of us didn't grab enough resources. Thanks for reading!

My Project

For this project I am requesting a variety of fiction books in both English and Spanish. My students love reading and being read to. However, no educator predicted COVID 19 would keep us out of our schools for so long. Many of us did not grab enough resources to teach our students for such a long period of time. These books will teach and at the same time distract my students from all the uncertainty in the world at the moment.

These books will bring joy to my students and give them something to focus on rather than all the scary things happening at the moment.

All students have been cut off from so many of the resources they receive in school. These books would make a world of difference. Thank you for reading!
