Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My 21 kinders are all Hispanic, they are in a dual language immersion program, they are curious, eager, enthusiastic, creative, they make me want to be the best version of my teaching self.
My school is a low income title 1 school.
My students have inspired me to find better resources, new strategies, new ways to teach the basics without loosing focus on the future and everything I want them to be, learn and explore.
Our school is committed to the community to provide a high quality education despite the challenges and obstacles.
My Project
We are in a low income school, and most of my students are not exposed to technology on a daily basis. The technology we did have was taken away because it was outdated, and we are not sure if we are receiving new equipment any time soon. So in the meantime I would like to have technology available for my students so they can start learning, using and taking advantage of the resources available in the real world.
My students will use the Amazon Fire tablets to explore educational applications like "The Imagination Station" (iStation) to practice reading comprehension skills, understand and use new vocabulary and review letter recognition and Education Galaxy (www.educationgalaxy.com) to teach and reinforce mathematical skills like adding and subtracting, number recognition, problem solving and more.
I am a firm believer in the digital revolution and the impact it has in our kids' lives even when they are not directly exposed to it, so what better opportunity to take advantage of this and help them have access to technology from an early stage and prepare them for a better future.
