This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a bridge K/1st grade bilingual special ed class that needs a special place to gather in the classroom, where they can build their knowledge and inspire each other. Currently, we have an old ABC rug that’s worn out but has played a vital role in our classroom, as most of my students understand “Please meet me in the meeting area” that we are transitioning to the classroom rug.
The classroom rug is our most essential, well-used gathering spot in our classroom.
I’m hoping to acquire a bilingual rug to support my English language learners. We gather every day as a whole group for morning routines and lessons in math, reading, writing, and phonics. Having a new rug in the classroom would be motivational and rewarding.
This rug will be used for morning routines, whole group and small group instruction, and partner reading. I know this rug will enhance students’ learning by providing a welcoming environment that develops skills that maximize their learning and fosters a strong foundation.
