Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Providing my students with picture books that aid the content they are already learning will help bridge the language gap they are facing in schools. Using visual supports, structured writing and reading activities to scaffold their learning will aid in their ability to make connections between both languages. The books will provide exposure and examples of English vocabulary they need to learn while also using their native language to activate prior knowledge they already have! My kindergarteners deserve to see their native language as a super power that will help them in many other areas of life.
