Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are very motivated to succeed. They enjoy many after school activities, whether they are academic or athletic. Our students participate after school clubs; such as a STEM, UIL, cheer, dance, gardening and reading clubs.

Due to our geographic location, our students face many difficulties everyday.

Many of our parents are uneducated immigrants looking for a better life for their kids. 98% of our students are limited English speakers, yet they still manage to score very high on the state exam.

Our campus is ranked one of the top elementary schools in the district. It is all because of the the effort our students and staff commit to everyday. Our staff is a group of dedicated individuals that go above and beyond for our students. We are very proud of our campus and our students' accomplishments.

My Project

Our STEM Elementary school provides equal opportunities for all students. These books will enhance the bilingual, bi-literate, bi-cultural philosophy we strive to instill. Students will be able to enjoy these books through out the year. As a school librarian, I will be using these books for books talks. Students will share a book reviews with other students as well as recommendations for the books they read.

These books will give our students greater exposure to their language and literacy.

The best way to create life long readers is to provide books that the student can read and comprehend, while targeting their interest. The books I chose are titles that our students have suggested we add to our library. Our students have a love for literacy and reading, this project will provide the opportunity for our students to have a variety of books available for them.
