My Students

Our school is a Special Education School with 180 students who face challenges everyday. We have 13 classrooms with students ranging in age from 5 to 22. We have a wide variety of abilities at our school. We want our students to be able to do as much as they can independently. Our bicycle program was developed so our students can learn to ride a bicycle for exercise, recreation and transportation. We want our students to be able to have fun with their friends and families riding bikes. Our students tend to be overweight so riding a bicycle is a great form of exercise for them.

My Project

Our goal is to have all kids in all classes riding on a bicycle. We have such a wide ability level at our school so we need many different size and styles of bicycles. We have adult three wheelers, adult two wheelers, kids two wheelers, training wheel bikes, tricycles, specialized tricyles, hand cranked bikes, and bikes with specialized training wheels.

Our bicycle program was developed so our special need students can learn to ride a bicycle for exercise, recreation and transportation.

Bike riding is an activity that our students can transfer to their everyday life. We teach them how to be safe in our riding area while having fun at the same time.
