Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The transition from elementary to middle school can be a daunting experience for many students. To address this challenge, our school has developed a mentoring program where 11th graders serve as mentors to 6th graders, helping them acclimate to the new environment. Our school is committed to ensuring that all students feel welcome and supported as they transition into middle school. However, our current budget constraints limit our ability to provide the necessary materials for effective mentoring activities. We look forward to the opportunity to enhance our mentoring program and make a lasting impact on our student's lives.

The games and craft supplies we are requesting will enable our mentors to facilitate engaging activities, promoting relationship-building and easing the transition for our younger students.

With these materials, we aim to foster a supportive community, enhance social skills, and build confidence in our 6th graders.

Every week, 11th graders lead structured activities with 6th graders, including team-building games, creative crafts, discussion circles, and academic check-ins. By investing in games and craft supplies like clay and tote bags, we can create a more engaging and effective mentoring experience for both 11th and 6th graders.

The expected outcomes of this program include improved social skills for 6th graders, increased confidence, and a sense of belonging within the school community. Additionally, 11th graders will develop valuable leadership and communication skills.

We respectfully request supplies to ensure that we can provide the best possible resources for our students during this critical transition period. Thank you for considering our project.
