Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Pre-K students love coming to school to learn and play with their friends. They think our classroom is perfect. They don't see that if we had a few extra materials, we would be able to do so many more things.

They are happy with what we have, but I want to give them more.

We are the only Pre-K class at our school, and my students are a great bunch of kids. They are just starting out, and they are so excited to come to school every day.

As their teacher, I try to maintain that excitement so that they will always love coming to school. Most of them come from very low-income homes and have never been in school before entering my class.

My Project

This year our classroom environment has been completely turned upside down from trying to comply with Covid safety regulations. We aren't able to have any carpets on the floor and so we have a very bare classroom. Pre-K students typically spend a great deal of time on the floor, playing with toys or sitting on the floor for circle time. We can't do any of that this year. Last year I borrowed some chairs from another classroom, but those were way too big. We need a class set of chairs for our classroom that are the right size. I would like for my students to have as normal a school year as possible and these materials will help me make that possible.
