My Students

I am an elementary school counselor at a public school In Brooklyn, NY. I work with students across all grades K-5. My students all have different needs and goals but overall are learning how to identify and express their feelings. They are learning coping skills to help manage their emotions. They are learning how to resolve conflicts. My students are also learning resilience and about having a growth mindset. My overarching goal is to help students feel safe and comfortable being who they are.

My Project

I want all of my students to know that anything they feel is ok. We all have big feelings and we can learn how to move through these feelings. I am requesting books to help my students manage all of their big feelings.

I want to empower my students by teaching them strategies to manage their big feelings.

All of these books will allow my students to identify with different characters, understand they are not alone in how thy feel and learn different strategies to help move through a feelings.

Books are such a powerful learning tool and I know my students will gain a tremendous amount from these books and our discussions that follow.
