Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am seeking funding to create immersive classroom transformations that engage students in science, reading, and writing through hands-on, theme-based learning experiences. At the end of key units, our classroom will be transformed into dynamic environments where students become active participants in their learning, making abstract concepts more tangible and memorable.

Text Feature Surgeons (Reading)

After a unit on text features, students will become "Text Feature Surgeons" in a hospital-themed classroom. They'll analyze texts by "operating" on them to identify headings, captions, diagrams, and bold print, learning to diagnose key features like medical professionals.

Writing Construction Workers (Writing)

Following lessons on sentence structure, students will turn into "construction workers" in a classroom set up like a construction site. Using blueprints, building blocks, and toy tools, they'll construct and refine sentences, learning how to build strong, effective writing.

Animal Adaptations and Habitats (Science)

At the end of a unit on animal adaptations, our room will become four different habitats (ocean, rainforest, desert, and arctic). Students will explore how animals survive in these environments, then create their own species by combining favorite adaptations and choosing a habitat for it.

These transformations will foster creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking while helping students apply their knowledge in real-world contexts. By creating hands-on, immersive experiences, I aim to make learning more engaging and memorable, giving students the tools to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

I am requesting funds for materials such as props, decorations, and activity supplies to bring these transformations to life. Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a lasting impact on my students' learning experiences.
