This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom buzzes when we use technology! I LOVE giving my students opportunities to learn through tech, show what they know, and teach others - including me! My students will use the Osmo technology to work with word games and tangrams to creatively learn to read and work with math concepts!

Our Kindergarten classroom is filled with motivated learners who come from culturally rich backgrounds!

We have many English Language Learners and most of our students come from low-income households. We have LOTS of fun learning through movement, student-centered activities, and working with peers. We are risk-takers, explorers, story-tellers, and most importantly a team. This team attitude expands into our school - which is a fabulous place to learn and grow! Parents and staff are extremely supportive, but we lack many resources seen in more affluent schools.

My Project

We will be able to use the iPads that we have to bring learning to life! Kindergarteners need to manipulate objects and represent patterns that Osmo will allow us to do! We will be working with developmentally appropriate skills while using the Osmos as a tool. Students will be able to use tangram shapes to re-make and create geometric designs while counting, repositioning, and comparing shapes. They will also be able to use word game times to with with phonics skills that will enhance their reading abilities! I will be able to activate my students interests using the Osmo technology and appeal to students who are struggling with these concepts! Osmo opens MANY doors in both literacy and math - there are endless opportunities with Osmo!

Osmos in our classroom will enable us to explore beyond just an iPad app!

We can show our creativity and practice working well with others as we share the Osmo technology! Our students are able to learn with and through iPad technology with the help of the school, an experience that they may never get elsewhere. As we prepare our students to love learning, no matter what it looks like, we are constantly needing new tools which to help them learn with!
