Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 6th grade ELA to 90 students in a Title I school. Many of my students come from extreme poverty. Many struggle daily to find a hot meal. My middle schoolers, in many cases, are left to raise themselves and take care of their younger siblings. Despite these hardships, my students always come to school ready to learn.

My students are motivated to rise above the hardships they endure so they can have a rich education and a bright future.

My Project

This project will impact my students immensely by engaging them in the classroom and by helping to keep them organized. My goal as a teacher is to foster a safe and engaging learning environment. The disinfectant wipes will help keep my classroom clean and my students safe.

Some of my students have not been in a classroom in 18 months.

This means I will have to remediate literacy skills in order to build upon them. The Astrobrights will be used to print resources to help teach my students various reading strategies. The students will keep these resources with them throughout the year to help support their learning.
