My Students

I have worked at BES for the past 12 years where I service all grade levels K-8. I live and work in the community I love. I have implemented many programs to help promote peace. One example is our Peer mediation program which has successfully helped improve the climate of our school at all grade levels. Another piece is recognizing students who are caught being kind twice a week on the loud speaker. Students and staff let me know through text, email and written notes who were caught being kind. Twice a week, I announce a hand-full of students to come down to the main office to receive a little treat. This recognition has definitely encouraged kindness throughout our school.

I am a member of the attendance team, which supports and encourages all students to attend school everyday.

The attendance goal is 95%. Every month students has the chance to earn perfect attendance and receive a special treat. I also put together monthly bulletin boards that encourage classrooms to win attendance prizes. Some examples are pizza, ice cream, popsicle parties. If chosen, I will use the donation to purchase prizes such as special pencils and other attendance incentives.

My Project

As the school counselor, I work daily with students, staff and parents to encourage our kids to come to school every day and always try their best. By recognizing students for good behavior, showing kindness and for coming to school everyday encourages them to be successful and builds their self-esteem. Our kids know they are loved, respected and cared for at BES.
