Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Walking into our school, you will find a diverse group of kids. Many of my students are English language learners, which means they are learning how to read, write, and speak English.

Our classroom is in an urban environment, filled with kids from all walks of life.

We are a Title I school, and our whole school gets free breakfast and lunch. I have a few students with troubled homes, which makes me work harder to create an environment where every child feels safe and able to learn the skills necessary to be ready for middle school and beyond.

My Project

Over my years of teaching I have compiled children's book series to help students increase their interest and enjoyment of reading. These book series have been popular and well loved by many students. Unfortunately, because of frequent use, these well-liked books have been worn out and need to be replaced, so students can continue to enjoy these amazing books.

High interest series help all students develop a love of reading.

I put together these series particularly to help resistant readers overcome the idea that they hate to read. I believe that finding the right book for a child will spark an interest in reading and will begin a love a reading. Providing the right series helps these children to keep on reading.
