This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have learned through the years that children love to use different tools or media for learning. My students love to use individual white lapboards for solving quick math problems. Unfortunately, with budget cuts, our school cannot afford to buy these for us.

My wonderful group of second graders come from low-economic backgrounds.

Most of them are English language learners. They are an amazing bunch of students with very inquisitive minds. They are always eager to learn and are a pleasure to teach every day.

My Project

I am desperately asking for individual student lapboards, markers, and erasers in order to be more 'green' and save paper and pencils. I have also found that when I teach a Math lesson, it is much easier when kids have access to a lapboard than to open up their notebooks or get a piece of paper. Besides those two factors, kids also enjoy using their own lapboard. It works like an incentive. They're more willing to try to solve a problem on the lapboard than on a piece of paper.

With the lapboards I will not only be able to teach my kids to be 'green' but my Math lessons will go much smoother and my students will enjoy doing the work.

The lapboards would also be used in Centers or other subject areas. With your kind donation, my students will feel motivated to use a different tool in school other than the normal pencil and paper.
