Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Pre-coding penguin stones with activity cards and the Code and Go Robot Mouse will help me introduce the important concept of coding to the students in the younger grades who come to my STEAM lab.

By introducing coding concepts early, we equip students with essential skills and knowledge that will benefit them throughout their education and into their future careers.

Younger students should learn early coding concepts because coding helps students develop foundational skills in logic, problem-solving, and critical thinking. These skills are essential not only in coding but also in various academic subjects and everyday life. The Code and Go Robot Mouse provides a playful and accessible introduction to coding concepts for young learners, making it easier to grasp complex ideas, and the hands-on nature of the activity set makes learning coding fun and interactive, keeping students engaged and motivated. Students will learn to troubleshoot issues when the robot doesn’t perform as expected, fostering resilience and analytical thinking. This is also a great way to introduce "unplugged coding" to these students because the students in grades K-2 don't have computer access in my room. Having exposure to early coding concepts will help build a foundation for future robotics and coding in their stem classes.
