Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is the first Skills for Learning and Living (SLL) program at the school. Our school is located east of downtown Houston where the majority of the community is considered low-socioeconomic. Although my students have a variety of disabilities such as Autism and Intellectual Disability, my students shine through it all.

They may interact differently with other students or might need extra support to finish and/or understand an activity but nevertheless, they are my amazing students.

My students are curious just about anything in their lives, whether it is an assignment on the board or the paperclip on my desk. They can also sometimes be afraid to try something new but we are working on them becoming independent day by day. My students are special in their own way and I believe that is what makes them unique.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go and how it will be implemented in the classroom. We just need your help in getting everything through our door!

Each resource will serve its purpose by meeting and exceeding the academic needs of our students!

The new school year is fast approaching and my assistant and I want to start it off with a bang! Our class highly needs ELAR resources and with the use of magnetic tiles, phonemic sounds puzzles and the other materials, we will definitely be able to meet our goals. We have various disabilities and impairments in our classroom that require the appropriate materials for each student. Disabilities and impairments range from intellectual disability, autism, and visual impairments. As a special education teacher, I have done extensive research, attended countless of trainings and have done self-reflection in order to understand which resources are the best. I truly need your support to make this year a great one for my students in the Life Skills classroom. Thank you so much!
