A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
As a teacher of poverty level preschoolers I find it my passion to provide a consistent, fun, loving environment for each of them on a daily basis. My classroom is where they come and they know they are safe, cared for, and loved! Children need to know that they matter and that they can learning new, fun things!
Each and every student in my classroom is unique and along with their uniqueness comes their unique sometimes complex baggage!
It is up to me as their teacher to provide them with the support, tools, teachings, and resources they need to sort through their "baggage" and become successful life long learners.
My Project
The students in my classroom come from poverty level house holds. House holds where it is not unusual to hear or witness domestic violence, experience some form of trauma, or have been removed from your home for one reason or another. When these children then enter the classroom it is a ongoing challenge for the teacher's to provide the best learning environment they can while juggling the many different situations that walk through the door daily.
The materials I am requesting will provide me with the tools I need to teach these at risk children in my classroom some basis coping skills they can carry with them for a life time.
These materials will assist the child in identifying their emotions and provide the teacher with visuals to walk the child through the traumatic, overwhelming and many times confusing episode of a tantrum, break down, or release of anger.
I truly believe if we can teach and instill these important coping skills into these young children at the preschool age, they will grow in to become self - sufficient, successful, well rounded adults. Adults that our future can count on!!
