My Students

Amidst the strains of this worldwide pandemic, I have had to be creative in reaching out to my students to ensure they have a lifeline to the world of learning, as their parents experience daily challenges just to provide for them. Many of them have lacked technology, which made instruction extremely difficult. It's truly amazing though, that with the obstacles my students and their parents face with this sea of uncertainty, their willingness to succeed has not wavered. So, neither can I.

Both equity and diversity in education make it possible for students to find hope in learning when their circumstances dictate otherwise.

I am grateful to be in a position where I can turn the negatives of the constraints of social distancing and virtual learning into a positive for my students and continue being creative to facilitate their learning. My colleagues and I always say, "Reading is Fundamental", and it is! They are so resilient that I'm motivated to do more for them. Reading is the key that unlocks the door of the world's wealth of knowledge and it's my job as their teacher to make sure no door is ever closed.

My Project

Though the constraints of social distancing have made it difficult for my ELL students to receive in-depth academic instruction during this time, this is a remarkable opportunity to close the gap on the valuable academic guidance they have missed out on. Diversity and equity of education are extremely important to me, and with these materials I will be equipped to assist my students in strengthening and developing their reading skills.

The Fluency bank cards will help me create engaging lessons and videos and the language activity sets and activities will help me develop their language acquisition which will enhance their reading skills.

These materials will help me give new life to the buzzing readers inside my ESL students and help them evolve as they successfully continue to acquire language, learn, and grow.
