Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently work in a 5th grade Integrated Co-Teaching classroom as the Special Education teacher. Our school is a Title I school and the neighborhood is a very diverse community with many low income families who have limited support and resources.

My students have faced some unprecedented times in this last year or so.

They have prevailed over school closures and remote learning. Now, being the first 5th grade class ever in our school building, my students are so happy to be back in person learning with their peers and teachers. My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!

My Project

With the ever-changing ways of the world, technology has become a necessary component to academic success. My students are able to navigate different forms of technology to assist in their everyday lives.

The use of laptops in the classroom will help my students display their learning in different ways - helping them showcase their thinking.

We have experimented with coding activities, as well as becoming more advanced writers through typing up writing pieces.

My students will absolutely use these laptops to enhance what they are learning, better preparing them for the real world after fifth grade.
