This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school located on the north shore of Staten Island. The students enrolled vary in ethnicities, cultures, disabilities and academic abilities. Our students work hard and are eager to learn.
Academically, many students struggle with academic language and many are referred for special education due to this struggle.
One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch. Due to the high demands of technology and other resources our school has limited resources. These at-home learning learning resources can assist English Language learners acquire the necessary academic language needed to be successful in integrated learning.
My Project
Help my ENL students who don't have many books to read at home use Reading Plus which is an online resource to help them become confident and proficient readers. Reading Plus is a literacy program that improves fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, stamina, and motivation for the students who are lucky enough to have it. Reading Plus helps students become proficient readers and I would love the opportunity for my students to use Reading Plus in school and at home. Audio and technology really helps English Language learners acquire academic language to help them become successful in the classroom.
