Becoming Mathematicians One Number at a Time!

My students need manipulatives to assist them in building their mathematical abilities to learn and grow as mathematicians. The Giant Activity Device can be used throughout the school year in a variety of math games.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in a diverse urban setting in the Philadelphia School District. I have 30 learners in my classroom, many of whom have never attended Pre K.

I teach at a Title I School where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students have not been exposed to education previous to entering my classroom. They all come to my classroom eager to learn and it is my job to provide the foundation they need to be lifelong mathematicians! My students need many opportunties to explore the curriculum using concrete tools. This year we have been focusing more on hands on learning in our mathematic instruction. I love seeing their faces light up when they understand new concepts!

My Project

These materials will be used to provide learning opportunities and self confidence as students explore numbers through hands on learning. My kindergarten students are on the way to becoming lifelong mathematicians and need more advanced, hands on materials to build number sense. These math materials will help build confidence and independence as they explore numbers and new mathematical concepts.

These learning tools will help to advance their math skills as they explore counting, addition, subtraction, and number sense.

The giant activity dice will allow then to explore counting, addition, and subtraction. The dice can be used for tons of math games. The ten frame magnetic boards will allow them to develop skills in adding and subtracting within ten as well as decomposing numbers.

The gigantic magnetic dominos will allow them to practice counting, adding, and subtracting. The Build-A-Number Houses will are perfect to allow my students to have a fun way to visualize quantities to ten. The pop and add game will allow students to use dice poppers to create additions problems with sums up to 20.
