This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fourth-grader (Noun) \fȯrth grā-dər\ - Someone who is a mathematician, reader, writer, artist, scientist, dancer, leader, explorer, and friend. - Someone who needs access to technology, high-quality books and an inclusive place to learn.

My fourth graders are curious and they try hard -- really hard.

They love to read, write, explore, and find answers to questions. Did you know that they are also bilingual, bicultural, and bi-literate? They speak, read, and write in two languages, English and Spanish. That also means that during the school day, they learn in both languages.

My Project

I am requesting non-fiction books to read and do research. We are about to begin a BRAND new unit - ALL About Animal Adaptations and are in some serious need of amazing, highly-engaging, high quality books in Spanish.

For the next six weeks my students will immerse themselves in non-fiction reading and will try to learn as much as they can about different animals.

Our research is not just about animals though, it is also about thinking critically about how animals have adapted over time (thousands of years!).

The right books will make this research unit a success.
