Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am happy to work with with these amazing fourth grade students. My students are children learning in a Title I school located in a high-poverty area and who receive a free lunch. They are also English learners and come from low-income households. These two realities put them at a disadvantage because they have limited English skills, and have less opportunity for enrichment overall. Although this is true, you wouldn’t think so based on their attitudes. They are a very positive group. They love learning and always put forth great effort in everything they do. They are eager to learn and so I would love to help them reach high levels of learning and improve and develop their 21 century skills-Technology literacy. This conference would prepare me to provide this type of instruction for my students along with resources that otherwise I would not get. My knowledge would then help me transform them and catapult them on their way to overall success.

My Project

Through the CUE workshops offered, especially one on Project Based Learning (PBL), I will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the elements of PBL and how to incorporate technology to facilitate learning that promotes equity regardless of the grade or subject matter. I will take with me ideas and resources that I can implement within my classroom. In addition,

underrepresented students will be able to benefit from the Discover Tech Trek and Tech Savvy workshop because I will take back what I have learned about the two programs designed by AAUW to support girls with an interest in STEM fields in the pursuit of their interests and goals, a much needed change.
