Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school district is currently 100% free and reduced-price lunch, and the majority of students are English Language Learners. This means that our students do not always have the same advantages as their peers in many other school districts, and they are learning a new language while trying to master state wide curriculum.

My students are extremely eager learners.

We work very hard to provide them with as many opportunities as possible. They enjoy working hard and trying new and innovated activities. They are motivated to learn everything they can.

My Project

An active citizen is a person who cares about their community and places they live. They want to make a positive difference to help others. These books will allow my students to explore real life active citizens who helped their communities in a way that changed the world.

Through their reading, my students will learn how to become active citizens and put what they have learned into a community service project.

As a teacher, my job is to provide my students with authentic texts that help them relate to the world and becoming active citizens. We will use these books during literature circles, research projects, and a culminating community service project.
