Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"This day in history" Every day, my students discuss this very topic because history shapes our world. All my student are informed about what has happened in the past and how it makes an impact to the current world. The students are always eager to hear what has happened because history matters.

All of my students are low-income, first generation students.

Since we are a title one school, my students don't have the means to buy their own review books or hire a tutor like many other schools. I do not see this as a drawback, but a stepping stone for the students to go over. All of my students are hardworking and determined to pass this rigorous course. Because of this course and last years success, half a dozen of my previous students are currently studying political science in universities across the country.

My Project

My students will be using these books everyday for class. Since our textbook are outdated, this review book will help the students get up-to-date on the history and government issues that our current society faces. Many of the topics discussed in this review book are tested on the AP test in May.

This project will make a difference because I have not seen a more eager class of students in my years of teaching.

Last year's passing rate made school history with 51% passing, but in order to achieve the 100%, we need this review book to guide the students on current and important issues of today's America. Many of the students have gained interest in political science and history due to this class, but it is the level of dedication and knowledge in politics that make this class successful.
