Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are very visual learners. They require hands on materials and resources constantly posted around them. As a new social studies teachers, there are materials that I am lacking that would help my students. We are currently learning about the 50 states, and after that the US presidents. The books requested are books my students have looked into and want to use and learn about during our class time. My students helped select everything in order to make sure we get the most out of our classroom.

Since getting new laptops for all my students, something we really need now are headphones.

Headphones are used in our classroom so students to focus on videos we are watching in class, but our headphones keep breaking as we have more than 50 students that rotate into our classroom. To help control the amount of pencils we use my students researched interesting ways to hold pencils and are looking forward to decorate the pencil holder on the list. We have also been trying different hands on ways to help students transition, and the students loved the idea of being able to press different buttons to give them different sounds so they know when to transition and to what activity.

All these materials will make all the difference in my classroom because they will help lead my students towards independence and self advocacy, which is ultimately what we want for all of our autistic, emotional disturbed students that are on that spectrum.
