Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kids are from Hunts Point in The Bronx, they come from an under served community, I often have students that come in hungry and tired. The surrounding school areaS have very high crime and poverty rate but they are a close community that cares about these kids deeply. I volunteer in the free flea market the school runs and it feels good to see the neighborhood and the school morphing into one family.

Though the odds are stacked against them, they are smart, funny and sharp! Help us with a lot of stuff we need to have fun and learn in September.

A laminator, a printer, a lot of velcro, more and more velcro...these might seem like a list of random things but in my classroom I can make magic with them.

The laminator, printer, velcro combo can make differentiating and modifying lesson plans for my neurodivergent students easily accessible and quick and gives me the grace to use time to my advantage in a classroom where things move at a faster and slower pace at the same time.

The magna tiles, arts crafts supply center, trampoline, sensory sand, classroom timer, musical instruments, number puzzle, and connect four are really instrumental in getting the neurodivergent population in my classroom to be fully engaged both sensory wise and happy fun emotions being connected to the learning.
