Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a group of amazing young boys and girls who have special needs. They are an inquisitive bunch and love to learn through exploration. They learn best through hands-on activities and love music. Distance learning has made it difficult to provide my students with materials for learning as well as personal necessities that many of their families are struggling to provide during the pandemic.

My Project

Materials in this project will help me provide my students with essential personal necessity items that many of their families are struggling to provide due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of my students are diaper dependent and their families need support in order to purchase these and other essentials.

By addressing the need for essential items, students and families can worry less about getting essential needs met and can focus more on other things including distance learning.

This project also supports academics through hands-on resources that students will be able to use at home while schools are closed due to the pandemic. The books will give my students much needed access to reading and language development while we are away from school. The block toys will help support basic math concepts along with fine motor development. My students can respond to question posed during virtual class meetings through drawing or writing on their dry erase boards.
