Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to cultivate a love for reading in my AP English Literature class by creating a welcoming classroom environment that is visually appealing to students. The paper rolls and bulletin board borders will help me create spaces that acknowledge and celebrate my students' goals and achievements throughout the year. The birthday posters will help me do a better job of celebrating student birthdays throughout the year.

What I am most excited about is providing students with flexible seating that will help them feel more at home in class.

Currently, students are forced to sit all day in the same, traditional classroom chairs that have been in our school for many, many years. I am hoping that by offering flexible seating in the form of bean bags and loungers in my "reading nook," students will begin to create positive associations with reading and learning.

This will be the second year students are fully back in the classroom after the pandemic. I want to create a truly inviting classroom that promotes and celebrates the accomplishments of every child under my care.
