Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I deeply admire my students for their unwavering eagerness to learn, even in the face of personal challenges. Each day, they arrive in class enthusiastic and ready to practice español, never shying away from difficult tasks. To support their resilience and enrich their learning experience, I envision creating a cozy, welcoming space that feels like a second home. This retreat will provide them with a comfortable environment where they can relax, use fidget toys, and engage in coloring to de-stress or take a much-needed mental break.

Sometimes, students just need a moment to 'breathe,' and this simple act can significantly enhance their learning.

Given the stress they face from school, home life, and jobs, having creative materials like crayons and coloring books offers a therapeutic outlet. These resources help reduce stress levels, support mental health, and contribute to their overall well-being.

My goal for this project is to create a sanctuary where students can take breaks during or after class. If, even for a moment, they feel like they’re in a home away from home, it would bring me immense joy. Knowing that they find fulfillment, whether through creativity or friendly competition, would truly warm my heart.
