My Students

We need your help because the return to the proverbial classroom, or in my case, the Wanda Nix Gymnasium --> #legend, has shown me that we need to #TeachHealthy and we need to Bring the FUN Back with equipment that is on the "approved" list, and that can translate building school community, developing a culture of activity and camaraderie during the school day which can translate to staying active on the weekends in a safe and friendly environment.

Let's bring the Beach to the Kids; Our students represent the finest of New York City public schooling as they partake in a very vigorous academic curriculum, and it is sometimes difficult for students to balance their schoolwork with sports activities and socializing; Additionally, this will help my students have a safe and healthy learning space.

Our student-athletes appreciate any and all opportunities they are given to expand their learning both within the classroom, in PE, and on athletic playing fields!

My Project

Beach Games are a great way to facilitate Team Bonding Activities which help to create a sense of community and belonging. As a lifelong educator I have chosen sports, activities, and personal fitness as my tool to help guide young adults.

A year of "Remote PE" got me thinking about the lifelong games we play that also bring people together, and for me, "Beach Games" fit that category!

With this project I aim to #TeachHealthy with the assistance of Nature Made.

Coupling this idea with an experience --> this past June I had an opportunity to play beach games with several Alumni athletes.... and we had a blast, and definitely got our workout on as well as our competitive juices flowing!
