My Students

First of all, I love the school that I am at and we have a great bunch of kids. My students come from a very low income area and are not used to having the best life has to offer. They are very appreciative of everything they get.

After Harvey devastated the Houston area, the kids at our school came back hurt and broken.

To hear the stories of what they and their families went through was very heartbreaking, to say the least. Some of them lost everything they had.

My Project

After talking to some of my parents, I realize how challenging it is to raise young girls. A lot of them are dealing with social and emotional issues at a much earlier age. I don't remember so many challenges at such a young age when I was growing up: peer pressure, cliques, gossip, cattiness, depression, and so on.

I plan to make a difference by providing these young girls with books, notebooks and activities that will bolster their confidence and give them a firm grasp on essential moral values.

Getting them involved with a positive organization (Girl Power) with an emphasis on character development will do just that. The items I am requesting will help accomplish this by keeping them busy with enrichment activities to guide them into strong, confident leaders.
