My Project

In the world of science, we must sometimes view the world through different lenses to understand how things work in the world around us. I need the thermal camera so students can see in real-time how heat and energy are transferred differently through different materials and surfaces. This will not only allow students to make connections between the curriculum and the experiments, but also see how heat and energy behaves in the real world. I also need lava lamps to model heat transfer through convection in an easily visible way that can then be viewed by thermal camera.

Having enough materials for each student or smaller groups of students to directly interact with the materials will create a more engaging and effective learning experience.

My students need a set of LED flashlights to be able to have their own flashlights to model the Sun's light shining on Solar system objects. This way, they can see how light and shadows create different visual phenomena, including Moon phases and eclipses. Often times we do not have enough materials for every student to participate and have their own learning experience, which limits their ability to make connections and learn at a deeper level.

Students deserve a classroom that doesn't just have blank walls; but instead has posters and decor that are helpful, inviting, and that create an environment in which students feel they are being supported and invested in as learners. Content specific posters are necessary for students to visualize scientific processes and concepts that are sometimes abstract or on a larger scale that we don't often see in everyday life. Even having inflatable planets will help students to directly participate in modeling Solar System objects, scale, and motions. Each item is necessary to ensure students have their best chance at success.
