My Students

My 999+ students are inner city students who attend a public school where funding has been cut significantly. Their parents chose a public school because they do not have many options due to finances, which in turn does not provide the schools with a ton of support. In an ever changing world, we as teachers and staff members must be prepared in all instances. We try to provide access to the larger world and encourage our students to pursue opportunities their parents and families may never have had the chance to pursue.

Being proactive instead of reactive is the key to our students safety.

The school district can't always provide the materials needed for everyday learning let alone emergency situations. As a result of situations around our country, we would like to be prepared knowing our school is a safe place to be by providing the necessary supplies for continued safety.

My Project

Teachers and administrators play a critical role in the safety of students. Putting together and having on hand an emergency crisis kit can be invaluable in times of emergency. These days fires, tornadoes, flooding, winter storms or acts of terrorism can occur quickly and without warning. Although we cannot prevent emergencies, we can prepare for them. We are working to create "Go Kits" for every classroom in our school. The kits would provide comfort and safety to our students and staff in the event of an emergency. We are looking to purchase the following items to add to our "Go Kits": tourniquets, bandaids, blood pressure cuffs, and first aid kits. Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
