Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have 25 amazing students in our classrooms who could benefit from experiencing flexible seating. Our classrooms are made up of a diverse population that includes English Language learners and students with special needs. Our school is a title one school and all students receive breakfast and free or reduced lunch. The school is located in a low income area of El Cajon. The funding for our classrooms is very limited, however; we continuously strive to provide our students with necessary supplies.

My Project

Our goal with alternative seating is to create the best learning situation for each type of learner. By providing them with seating choices, it will help to ensure that each student is successfully obtaining educational standards. We would like to evolve our classrooms into a flexible seating learning environment to enable students in feeling successful while being comfortable. The days of traditional seating have drastically changed and it is our hope that with the yoga cushions our classrooms will provide more options for our students. We would like to provide students the seating option that allows them to learn their best, not just a seating option they find to be fun.
