My Students

I teach Life Skills Support K-2. Life Skills students enter my classroom with a variety of skills and needs, making my job harder, but so much more rewarding. Currently, they are missing key pieces to a successful learning environment - *working technology maximizing their learning.

I have seen my students succeed through difficult times and they are truly inspiring.

Many have come from non-verbal to verbalizing daily, requesting and refusing! Words cannot express how much I care for my students. I wish I had the funds to properly create my classroom with the technology that they need, and deserve to help their education.

Success happens in my classroom, but can you imagine how much higher that could be if they were provided the appropriate resources?

My Project

My students enjoy using manipulatives, hands-on activities and working on various technology resources. As we all know, sharing resources and materials means lots of spreading of germs. We are in dire need of cleaning supplies like facial tissues, sanitizer, paper towels, Clorox Wipes, trash bags, a dust pan, a broom, a wastebasket, air freshener, and Febreze to help keep our room, materials and ourselves clean. Keeping our materials and room clean will all students to learn the importance of cleaning and know how to clean appropriately. The students will be able to take care of their own sanitary needs (covering noses and blowing their noses and wiping hands and face.) My students can learn the appropriate way to sweep the floors, cleaning tables, wiping down manipulatives, everyday materials, and writing utensils. having a neat, clean classroom that smells nicely will make the students have more pride in their classroom and want to come to school.

A sanitary classroom will keep my class from spreading germs, staying healthy, and improving our attendance.

Attendance is extremely important to when it comes to Life Skills students. They need structure, routines and repetition. Any lapse in education could cause the students to regress. We are focusing on finding new strategies and materials to aid in our educational journey and keeping them clean!
