My Students

WE ARE KIND, BRIGHT, PASSIONATE, ENERGETIC AND CURIOUS PEOPLE!

Our classroom is comprised of 7th grade students who hold a multitude of amazing qualities!

We are a small school that embraces the idea of project/inquiry based learning, infused with embracing the unique qualities each student offers.

Our 7th grade class creates projects based on their innate desire to learn, grow and know more about the various topics that interest them. We do this collaboratively while addressing the learning standards. We love to engage in field studies that support our learning and appreciate any and all support we can get on our journey.

My Project

Most of the requested supplies for this project are tools to help students learn, focus, calm their brains to become more mindful students. When students are feeling angry, stressed or just need a break, these tools will help them alleviate those feelings, and calm their thoughts so they may return to learning and growing. By using the light softeners, the environment that was previously filled with harsh florescent lights, will be transformed into a soothing and relaxing environment. The singing bowl will help reinforce their mindful activities, as well.

Through the use of these tools, students will have and be able to seek constructive outlets to address their frustrations.

This project will also allow students to indulge in reading some of the books that they are interested in. All students have already read Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, and will not be able to follow up with the second book. When Monsters Call is a book that students have expressed interest in, and we will be able to enjoy it as a class while learning from it, and supporting our ELA literacy standards.

Students have also expressed a desire to use their math concepts to cook. Students will create recipes, use math relationships to determine quantities and share with others. In addition to reinforcing mathematics, students will have another outlet to express their talents, while teaching younger students what they have learned.
